Confession of a Disney Employee

The Dream Job

Working for Disney was my dream job, ever since I was a kid. The idea of being part of the magic and creating memories for families was too good to pass up. So, when I got the job, I was over the moon. I couldn't wait to start.

The Reality

However, the reality of working for Disney was quite different from what I had imagined. The hours were long, the work was hard and the pay was not great. I was often tired and stressed from dealing with difficult guests and demanding managers.

The Training

Before starting my job, I had to go through extensive training. This included learning the history of Disney, the values they uphold and how to deal with different situations. The training was intense, but it was necessary to be able to do my job properly.

The Guests

The guests could be the best part of the job, but they could also be the worst. While some were kind and appreciative, others were entitled and rude. Dealing with difficult guests was a constant challenge, and it could be exhausting to keep a smile on my face all day.

The Managers

The managers could be just as challenging to deal with as the guests. Some were friendly and supportive, while others were critical and demanding. It could be difficult to know what was expected of me, and I often felt like I was walking on eggshells around them.

The Perks

Despite the challenges, there were some perks to working for Disney. I got to meet some amazing people, both fellow employees and guests. I also got to see behind the scenes of how the magic is made. And of course, I got to enjoy some of the attractions during my breaks.

The Secrets

Working for Disney also meant I learned some secrets that most guests don't know. For example, there are secret tunnels under the Magic Kingdom that employees use to get around without being seen by guests. And some of the characters have to wear ice vests to keep cool in the Florida heat.

The Stress

Despite the perks and secrets, the stress of the job eventually got to me. I found myself dreading going to work and feeling drained after every shift. It was a tough decision, but I eventually decided to leave Disney and pursue other opportunities.

The Lessons Learned

Looking back on my time at Disney, I learned some valuable lessons. I learned how to deal with difficult people, how to work under pressure and how to put on a good show even when I didn't feel like it. These skills have helped me in all aspects of my life, and I am grateful for the experience.

The Magic Lives On

Even though I no longer work for Disney, the magic still lives on for me. Whenever I visit the parks, I am transported back to my time as an employee and the memories I created for guests. And I am reminded of why I wanted to work there in the first place.
